N.C. State didn’t have much offense in Tuesday’s 70-54 loss at Clemson.

After the game, the Wolfpack didn’t have a fast way out of Clemson, either.

N.C. State discovered after the game that the charter plane that was supposed to fly it home wasn’t available.

Fortunately, State had a bus scheduled to bring its equipment back, since the charter plane was a small one. So the sleepy, quiet Wolfpack rolled into Raleigh around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Long ride back after a long game.

“I think I got to bed about 3:30 [a.m.]” said broadcaster Tony Haynes, who was on the bus. “It’s not the first time it’s happened at Clemson. We had to take the bus back at least once before because of a wintry mix type of weather deal.

“I don’t know – funny things happen at Clemson.”

Hayes said State expected the plane to be at the airport around 10:15 p.m., so the team took its time leaving Littlejohn Coliseum.

Then the team learned the plane wasn’t coming.

On the ride home, Haynes said, the Pack players "were quiet. I think most of them were sleeping. They sat in the back. And the coaches were watching tape up front.”
