Stay by your radio this week as 99.9 The Fan, the Triangle’s new all-sports station, debuts.

The Fan went on the air Wednesday at 3 p.m., giving area fans sports programming in an FM format. Local shows will fill the morning and afternoon time slots. At night, look for Carolina Hurricanes broadcasts, with former WRAL reporter Mark Roberts doing pre-game and post-game reports.

The station, WCMC, has moved from a country format as part of Capitol Broadcasting Company’s continuing push into sports coverage. As WRAL.com readers have noticed, we’ve had more reporters at games, at news conferences and in the field delivering the news you want.Capitol Broadcasting is the parent company of WRAL.com.

Now there will be new personalities and a new source of information with The Fan. You'll find The Fanatics on the air in weekday mornings from 6 to 9 a.m. and then the Insiders from 3 to 7 p.m.

Listen up, and let us know what you think.
