Ravenscroft Boys Basketball Wins Second Straight TISAC Title
The Ravenscroft Boys Basketball team won its second straight TISAC Tournament Championship with a 59-51 victory at Cary Academy on Friday, Feb. 15.
The Ravens are now 23-6 overall and have won 16 straight TISAC games dating back to the beginning of the 2006-07 season.
Junior Ryan Kelly led all scorers with 27 points and 18 rebounds, and hit six crucial free throws in the final two minutes to help clinch the win. Senior Dominic Parker contributed 16 points; junior Matt Wilson had nine points; junior Hampton Story had five points; and sophomore Stefan Stoyanovich had two points.
Ravenscroft trailed 9-8 at the end of the first quarter, but Parker scored nine points in the second period to spark the Ravens to a 27-17 halftime lead.
The Chargers rallied in the second half, cutting the lead to just 41-39 early in the fourth quarter. Cary Academy stayed within striking distance until Parker hit a jumper in the lane with 2:35 left to push the lead back to 50-44. The Ravens then made 11 free throws in the final two minutes to secure the championship.
Kelly was named the TISAC Player of the Year, and was joined on the All-Conference Team by fellow Ravens Parker, senior Casey Stevenson, and Wilson.
The Ravens now await their seed in the NCISAA 3-A State Championship Tournament, which will be played at Ravenscroft on Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 21-23. Seeding will be determined on Sunday, Feb. 17. For complete tournament news and results, visit the Ravenscroft Web site's tournament home page.

Ravenscroft Girls Basketball Claims TISAC Crown
The Ravenscroft Girls Basketball team defeated Durham Academy, 60-41, to win the TISAC Tournament Championship on Friday, Feb. 15 at Cary Academy.
The Ravens finished conference play undefeated at 10-0 and are 23-6 overall.
Junior Lindsay Cowher led the Ravens with 21 points, rebounds, and four assists. Sophomore Erin Bratcher had 17 points; junior Kathryn Fogartie had 11 points; junior Brittany Atwater had seven points; and senior Anya Knower had four points.
"I am extremely proud of our team," said Interim Head Coach Ned Gonet. "One of our goals was to win the conference tournament, and we took a really good shot tonight from an aggressive Durham Academy team whose athletes always play hard.
"We played a smart game and made good decisions in the second half. All five of our starters made big contributions tonight, and we also got some key minutes from some of our other players. In the last month and a half, the girls have really practiced hard, learned to respect each other, and played as a team. Their efforts paid off tonight."
Bratcher was named TISAC Player of the Year, and was joined on the All-Conference Team by fellow Ravens Cowher, Fogartie, and Knower.
