Garner, N.C. — The Garner Trojans' season is over. The No. 9 seeded Millbrook Wildcats went into Garner and took care of business, 49-35.
The Wildcats have now proven they are among the best teams in the Triangle area, and they will have the chance to prove they are among the best teams in the Eastern Region next week when they travel to New Bern.
Millbrook opened up a 21-0 lead over the Trojans, but as the No. 1 seed in the 4-AA East, Garner was not ready to give up.
Garner made the score 21-13 in the second quarter, but with 30-seconds left, Millbrook quarterback Brian Kass took it to the ground himself and scoring.
Millbrook took the 28-13 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, Garner scored twice and was successful on a two-point conversion to tie the game at 28. With Trojan fans back in the game, it looked like Garner was on a roll, and later in the half Garner sneaks up with a 35-34 lead.
Not for long.
Millbrook's Jamal Williams is the hero tonight. Williams, who did not play in the first game against Garner, must have been a surprise to the Trojan defense.
Millbrook upset Garner Friday night 49-35.
