Butler QB Charest Headed to Illinois

Jacob Charest went on his first official visit last weekend to Illinois, and why there, he committed to the Illini.

The 6-foot-4 quarterback said he committed to Illinois on Sunday, and that he told several coaches about his intentions. Charest also said that the Illini coaching staff told him that he was the only quarterback that they wanted, and the only quarterback that they had made an offer to.

Charest is a three-star quarterback and ranks the No. 23 pro-style quarterback in the country, according to Rivals.com.

As a junior, Charest passed for over 3,000 yards and 22 touchdowns, and was only picked off eight times. Charest is also a member of the Butler High School wrestling team, but it is unknown if he will continue his wrestling career now that he has committed to a Division I football program.

Who made an offer to Charest other than Illinois?

Iowa, Louisville, Oregon, Akron, and California all made offers to Charest, hoping to get a new quarterback on their squad. No offers from North Carolina schools were reported.

Charest said he was happy with his decision.
