Rousse, Edmondson Place Top 5 at AJGA

Courtney Rousse of Holly Springs and Zach Edmondson of Morrisville finished third and fourth in their respective divisions at the American Junior Golf Association’s Golf World/Medicus Preseason Junior in Greenville, S.C., on Sunday.

Rousse shot 80-83 to finish at 19-over 163 at the 6,012-yard, par-72 Furman University Golf Club. Rousse tied for third, seven shots behind medalist Jennifer Neville of Bradenton, Fla. Meghan Moore of Bahama finished seventh at 21-over 165.

In the boys division, Jake Hedge of Billings, Mont., and Crawford Reeves of Greenville, S.C., shared medalist honors at 2-over 146. Edmondson was fourth at 4-over 148 and was followed locally by Jonathan Hammond (Raleigh, 8th, 152), Harrison Ashworth (Fuquay-Varina, 16th, 156), Reeves Zaytoun (Raleigh, 23rd, 158), Rich Leeper (Chapel Hill, 29th, 160) and David McDougal (Raleigh, 41st, 163).

AJGA HEADS TO THE CLIFFS: The Triangle will be well represented at the AJGA’s inaugural Cliffs Championship, April 25-27 at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls. Among the 51-player boys field will be Will Almand (Cary), Michael Cromie (Cary), Robert Hoadley (Southern Pines), Andrew Knox (Cary), Ben Kohles (Cary), Michael McGowan (Southern Pines), Mark McMillen Jr. (Smithfield) and Grayson Murray (Raleigh). Raleigh’s Courtney McKim will compete in the girls division.

ON CAMPUS: N.C. State announces that Meghan Chapman of Seminole, Fla., and Hunter Ross of Manakin Sabot, Va., have signed national letters of intent to join the Wolfpack's women's team beginning in the fall.

Chapman is the reigning two-time Pinellas County Player of the Year, and won a state sectional tournament in 2007. Ross was named the 2006 Virginia State Golf Association’s Junior Golfer of the Year. That same year she earned first team All-America honors on the Future Collegians World Tour.
