Live Blog: Carolina in a Run Away

9:08 p.m.-  Well that last couple of minutes was entertaining I must say.  Guys running around in Carolina uni's putting the finisninshing touches on a 39 point win.  Thanks for all the fun tonight, now lets all go watch some real basketball as we finish up a wild day 2.  Ice Cream Mman and Made in USA, you both win the t-shirt.  Ice Cream for being my new "brother" and Made in USA because you need a friend.  Send me an e-mail to fanatics@999thefan.com and I'll hook you up.

9:04 p.m.-  Surrey WOOD- nuf said

8:56 p.m.-  The bench is emptied.  I always feel embarrassed for these kids when they take shots.  You know, how the scholy plyers stand and raise their hands over their head when they take shots.  Kinda of like, hey you guys aren't very good, we're about to look goofy on the sideline for the next few minutes look.

8:48 p.m.- You just know when the announcers are relegated to talking about the logos on the floor that you have a blowout on your hands.  I mean c'mon Billy.  Do you really think Dean told Ol Roy to check the logos for their slipperyness and that no detail is missed?  Heels by 42 and that's the best you got?  Ugghhhh, give me some more info Billy.

8:39 p.m.-  86-52 Heels with more than 10 minutes to go.  All right, a little contest wins a 99.9FM Fan T-shirt.  How many points does Carolina score tonight?  Hit it on the nose and we'll get  you cool T.

8:30 pm-   How many of you have  those Nerf Hoops in your house?  You know, the ones attached to your door.  This is like when you're playing your kids and you can dunk on them every second you want.  In fact, it's time we have a little dunking competition.  Lets go Cameron and Andrew!  Daddy means business!  Carolina up big, early second half.

8:25pm- How long does he go with his rotation?  I mean, don't you just fear an injury or something.  At some point you look at every game for what it is.  Does winning by 30 or 40 mean that you're that superior.  By the way, I'm sorta of surprised a the Oklahoma/St.Joes score.

8:20 p.m.- Sice you're the only person to respond to this blog so far, I have determined that we, the good people at 99.9fm the Fan and WRAL dedicate the rest of our tournament blogs to you.

7:59 pm- Halftime.  60-41 Carolina.  Scoring is easy, defense isn't for the Heels.  It's probably different knowing that you have such a size advantage and canscore with such ease to play lockdown defense but this 1st half defensive performance won't be on too many Tar Heel highlight reels.  Have you seen some of those other scores going on.  Looks like the Saints from Siena are doing some damage to Vanderbilt.  Bad overall showing from the SEC so far.  Ahhhh, pizza has arrived.

7:55pm- As the game slowly drifts into blowout  status, Billy Packer and Jim Nantz are discussing Carolina's next opponent.  But this defensive effort is pretty bad on the part of the Heels.  They've given up 41 already and we still got over a minute to go.  This ain't gonna be a happy Carolina lockerroom.

7:48 p.m.-  48-33 Heels.  They're gonna have close to 65 this half.  Unstoppable is about the only word I can think of right now.  Just wayyyyyy to big for Mt. St. Mary's.

7:32 pm- One of  the joys of watching a game with your 9 year old son is watching it through the eyes of a kid.  He loves this underdog thing.  He likes the fact that it appeared early on that Mt. St. Mary's will probably score more than the 29 that Mississippi Valley State scored last night.  That has to hurt those kids.  UCLA just gave those kids a complex last night.  I can't see that happening here but lets give the Mount credit.  They're getting wide open shots and have already put up 27 with a 3 pt conversion opportunity coming out of the gate.  39-27 Carolina, 7:13 to go 1st half.  Roy can not be happy with this defensive effort.

7:26 pm-Roy said enough of that. time to show our beef.  Carolina has a linup on the floor that averages 6'8.  Big long and athletic.  Something the Mount isn't.  Packer just used a volleyball reference.  Billy probably wishes he were playing volleyball right now.   They scored the last 9 points.  Carolina 22-12.

7:21 pm- The Mount got off to a rough start but have settled down after 6:41 in.  Carolina is a bit jacked up as Hansbrough has gone between his legs once and tossed one up from near the top of the key.  I love the 1st few minutes of these 16-1 match-ups.  Just to see how long the 16 can hang.  It's like watching the CYO vs the NBA.  Different letters, different talent.  Fun so far though.  18-12 Carolina.

7:00 p.m. Moments from tip off for Carolina as the top seed takes on Mt. St. Mary's.  What a day of upsets already.  San Diego, Western Kentucky and lets throw in Davidson for good measure all pulled upsets.  Can the Mount mount a challenge.?   I can't even imagine they'll stay within 30.  I'll keep you posted so join in, lets have some fun the next couple hours.
