2:05 p.m.- Business like performance by the Heels in the 2nd half. They really wore down FSU to take a 82-70 win. Roy has to be pleased with the effort but somewhat concerned with Ty' Lawson's balky ankle. He just doesn't have the hops a this point. Be interesting to see how he goes tomorrow in the semifinal. Hansbrough and Ellington were big time for the Heels this afternoon. Enjoy the rest of the games and keep it right here for continued blog updates throughout the rest of quarterfinal Friday!
2:01 p.m.- Well, it's just about in the books here between Carolina and FSU. 1:20 to go and Carolina has a 79-67 lead. Check in after we go final.
1:54 p.m.- Ummmm. No. This one has played itself out and Carolina took full control of this game about midway through the 2nd half. Give the Seminoles credit as they haven't laid down. Hansbrough has 19 and Ellington 17 for UNC. This feels closer than a 13 point game. Heels probably would like to see Virginia Tech in the semi-final lbut time will tell as the Hokies take on Miami in quarterfinal #2 today a the Bob.
1:50 p.m.- Full timeout as Carolina has taken a 12 point lead with 5:25 to go. 68-56 Heels.
1:42 p.m.- It's now or never for FSU becuase what we've seen the last few minutes is both teams trading baskets. Carolina has really pushed tempo and while Ty Lawson only has 2 points today, he's pushed it as hard as he has all day the last few times down the court. 59-49 Carolina with 7:50 to go in the game.
1:33 p.m.- Roy Williams just jumped out of his chair after his team just forced a turnover on a shot clock violation. Is it any wonder that this team has played their best basketball when they decided to become a better defensive team? 48-38 Carolina with 11:47 to go in the second half.
1:28 p.m.- A Hansbrough 3 point play followed by a pretty Quentin Thomas lay in has given UNC a 10 point lead at 48-38. Best part of being a Carolina fan now. Every time the jumbotron shows a picture of a Duke fan the pro Carolina crowd boos like crazy. Good times! Have I mentioned the FSU lady fan in back of press row is crazy as a loon?
1:12 p.m.- Breaking News. Tyler Hansbrough has been sighted at the free throw line. Carolina has extended their halftime lead by 2 to take a 41-32 lead with 15:18 to go in the second half. Do you get he feeling a pretty good game could get out of control in a few minutes? FSU looks a step slower to start the half. Ty Lawson doesn't look right. No points, not sure of himself.
:46 p.m.- Best sequences of the game so far. Just when you though Carolina was imposing its will building an 8 point lead, FSU has hung tough. Will Graves just banked in a 3 pointer for Carolina from the baseline! Ridiculous! Crowd was incensed that Danny Greene was fouled and instead of a trip to the line a tie up has given the ball back to FSU out of the timeout. 32-27 Carolina.
12:35 p.m.- 20-20 a tthe 7:36 mark of the 1st half. It realy makes me wonder sometimes how FSU loses 9 games in the conference. This is a good basketball team. Ryan Reid can and has been physical with Hansbrough. Their guard play is very good led by Douglas and Rich. No wonder Leonard Hamilton is on the hot seat.
12:26 p.m.- The pace in this quarterfinal favors Carolina so far. Not sure why Hansbrough went out early but he's back in. Thomas has replaced Lawson. Jason Rich is shooting lights out for the Noles. Already has 9. I think Leonard Hamilton better tell his kids to slow it down becuase they don't want to get in a shootout today with the rested Heels.
12:15- Early on here in game 1 and it's 7-6 FSU. This really has a feel of being in Chapel Hill. Ty Lawson started for the Heels and the ankle looks fine. FSU is doing everything it can to bump Hansbrough in the lane. FSU is trying to get into a half court set and doesn't want to run with UNC. By the way Toney Douglas is the REAL DEAL. 15:50 left in the 1st half.
11:54 a.m.- Bands playing, crowd getting excited. Basketball Friday is upon us! FSU band playing "I ain't got nobody." How telling. It's a sea of Carolina blue. Back after the game starts in a few minutes.
11:46a.m.- Carolina and FSU are on the court going through their pre-game routines. Hopefully this game will ge tthings kick started for a great day of basketball. After yesterday's opening round snoozefest, the pro-Carolina crowd is sure to get things revved up. I'll check back shortly after tp and let you know how things unfold.

I agree. I wouldn't want a smelly foot or a half-naked lamb on my body either.
