8:10 PM: Tim Plummer just picked up his fourth personal foul with 4:37 left, down 53-48.

8:08 PM: Terry Sanford has gone on a run to start the fourth quarter .... Or, I guess you can say they picked up where they left off. With 5:24 left, Zach Faircloth hit a three to put Terry Sanford up 53-45.

8:06 PM: Weston Murphy has fouled out of the game with 6:43 left after an offensive foul was called against him. Very controversial call, but none the less he is gone.

8:05 PM: END OF THIRD QUARTER - Apex 45, Terry Sanford 44

Apex's defense didn't come out the way they did in the first quarter, and Terry Sanford took advantage going on a 21-6 run to pull within one point, 45-44. Apex is also in foul trouble with Tim Plummer with three and Weston Murphy with four.

7:56 PM: Tim Plummer just picked up his third personal foul with 2:19 left in the third quarter. Apex is now leading by seven, 45-38.

7:52 PM: Apex's lead has been cut in half! Apex now leads by eight, 43-35 after two three point shots from Zach Faircloth and Josh Hayes hit three treys, and Hayes added a two point jumper. 3:32 left, Apex leads by eight.

7:35 PM: END OF SECOND QUARTER - Apex 39, Terry Sanford 23

The run continued in the second quarter for Apex. The Cougars started on a 4-0 run to put them up by eight points, and Terry Sanford was forced to call a timeout. Out of the timeout, Terry Sanford's Chris Wilson hit a two point jump shot, but Apex's DeArius White returned the favor with a two-point bucket of his own. With 5:21 left, Apex's lead had climbed to ten points, and it wasn't stopping there. The Cougars went up by 15-points, and they finished the half up by 16. Right now, Apex is outplaying Terry Sanford by a long shot, but there is still a whole half left to be played, so stay tuned. First half stats coming up soon....

7:19 PM: Apex came out firing in the second quarter. Several defensive stops for the Cougars, and they've gone on a 4-0 run. With 6:24 left, Apex is leading 20-12. Terry Sanford called a timeout to try to stop the momentum. We'll see what happens...

7:17 PM: END OF FIRST QUARTER - Apex 16, Terry Sanford 12

Apex fell behind by four points midway through the first quarter, but the Cougars are right where they want to be heading into the second quarter on top of the favored Terry Sanford Bulldogs 16-12. Terry Sanford hit a pair of treys to give them a quick lead, but Apex's defensive presence was too much for the Bulldogs down the stretch of the first quarter. Apex has also begun scoring consistently, and that could be bad news for Terry Sanford. So far, so good for the Cougars!

7:00 PM: We're just moments from tip-off, and the teams and crowds are ready. This should be one heck of a game. We'll find out if Apex can continue their playoff run in 32 game minutes!

6:50 PM: The Terry Sanford student section made the trip up I-95 to Highway 64. They're sitting directly across the court from us on press row, and they're loud. The Apex students have begun to fill in the section right behind us, and they're not exactly quiet!

6:35 PM: So, what is Apex going to have to do to win this one? Control Alex Murray! The 6-4 Senior averages a double-double with 14.5 points per game and 10 rebounds per game. The Bulldogs also have Zach Faircloth and Dwayne Allen averaging in double-figures. It will be tough for Apex, but as we talked about earlier this week, they've accomplished some tough tasks already!

6:25 PM: Hello everybody, and thanks for coming to WRAL.com and checking out our live blog from Greenville. We're here for the two 4-A Regional Final games tonight, and I'm going to keep you updated as the games progress. Our first game is between Apex and Terry Sanford. This match-up features a great coaching match-up, as Apex's David Neal goes up against his former high school coach Bill Boyette. Neal played at Sanderson High School for Boyette, and he told WRAL on Media Day that there is no one in the state of North Carolina that he respects more. We'll keep you updated, so stay with us.

I want to commend the Creek Crazies for showing poise and self-control in spite of vicious post-game taunting by the Jack Britt fans. With vastly superior numbers, the Middle Creek students could have easily shut them up by force, but proved how superior they truly are by keeping their cool. I'm proud to be a Middle Creek parent. You guys may have lost a game of basketball, but you have proved you are winners in the bigger game of life.
