We've played several conference tournament games, and in two of the conferences the championship games are already set. So, where do we stand Bracketology wise?
Let's break it down conference-by-conference.
Cap-Seven
Well, one thing is for sure - Millbrook will get the No. 1 seed out of the Cap-Seven Conference. The Wildcats won the regular season title, meaning they cannot lose their No. 1 seed. Enloe is currently seeded at No. 2, with Wakefield No. 3, and Sanderson getting the last spot at No. 4. All of that is subject to change if Broughton can win the conference tournament. The Caps must win the tournament if they want to go to the state playoffs. Should they win, Millbrook will still be No. 1, but Broughton will get the No. 2 seed. That means Enloe would drop to No. 3, while Wakefield drops to No. 4. Sanderson, if that happens, you will not be going the state playoffs. If Enloe wins the conference tournament, nothing changes. Should Wakefield win, they will go to No. 2, and Enloe will take their spot at No. 3.
- Set In Stone: No. 1 - Millbrook
Greater Neuse River
Clayton has claimed the No. 1 seed. Unlike the Cap-Seven, the Greater Neuse will put five teams into the state tournament. Southeast Raleigh will get the No. 4 seed, while West Johnston will receive with the No. 5 seed. The only thing that can change in the Greater Neuse is the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds. No. 3 Knightdale will play No. 1 Clayton for the championship on Friday. If Clayton wins, No. 2 will be Garner, while No. 3 will be Knightdale. Should Knightdale upset the Comets, the Knights will get the No. 2 seed while Garner slips to No. 3.
*Correction: West Johnston will have the No. 5 seed, while SER has the No. 4 after SER beat West Johnston in the first round of the conference tournament. The two split in the regular season, and the matchup in the conference tournament puts West Johnston into 5th place.*
- Set In Stone: No. 1 - Clayton; No. 4 - West Johnston; No. 5 - Southeast Raleigh
PAC-Six
The PAC-Six will have their semifinals on Thursday night. So far, we know that Southern Durham will get the No. 1 seed. We also know which five teams will be in the state tournament, we just don't know in what order. No. 5 Northern Durham will play No. 1 Southern on Thursday night, while No. 2 East Chapel Hill will play No. 3 Hillside. If Southern or East Chapel Hill wins the conference tournament, East Chapel Hill will get the No. 2 seed; Hillside will get the No. 3 seed; Jordan will receive the No. 4 seed, and the No. 5 seed will go to Northern Durham. If Hillside wins the conference tournament, they will get the No. 2 seed, and the No. 3 seed will go to East Chapel Hill. The No. 4 & No. 5 seeds would remain the same. Should Northern Durham pull three back-to-back upsets, they will get the No. 2 seed, while East Chapel Hill slips to No. 3, Hillside to No. 4, and Jordan to No. 5.
- Set In Stone: No. 1 - Southern Durham
Tri-Eight
This conference has already been determined. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds (Middle Creek and Panther Creek) will play for the conference championship on Friday, and regardless of the outcome the seeding will remain the same. All ties have already been broken as well. Green Hope and Athens Drive were tied for the No. 4 seed, however, Green Hope beat Athens in the conference tournament and advanced further than the Jags, both of which are enough to break the tie for the purpose of state playoff seeding. Panther Creek and Apex were tied for the No. 2 seed, however Panther Creek advanced further than Apex in the conference tournament, meaning they will get the tie breaker.
- Set In Stone: No. 1 - Middle Creek; No. 2 - Panther Creek; No. 3 - Apex; No. 4 - Green Hope; No. 5 - Athens Drive
