Carolina Up 34-31 at the Half

7:49 p.m.: Carolina just took over the game in the final minutes of the first half and it's 34-31 at the break.

Deon Thompson scored inside on an easy basket, Hansbrough scored and hit a free throw and then Wayne Ellington drilled a three-pointer for seven straight points at the end of the half. That muted what had been a rocking crowd, and rocking performance, by State.

Here's a look at the halftime stats:

For Carolina, Hansbrough has 14 points and seven rebounds. Ellington has nine points and Ginyard five.

For State, Gavin Grant has 12, and Courtney Fells and Javi Gonzalez each have six. Brandon Costner has four off the bench, in 11 minutes, and J.J. HJickson has three points and two rebounds.

Funniest moment of the first half came as the Wolfpack fans were chanting something not so nice at Hansbrough. A kid in front of me, probably about 11 years old, joined the chant until his mother leaned forward and gave him one of those "I don't think so" looks.

Just wait till you get to college, kid. You'll get your chance.
