Alright, folks. I got a bunch of e-mails on Monday and throughout the day today regarding the new changes coming to our WRAL.com comments section and how it will impact our prep sports coverage. Instead of responding to each individual e-mail, I'm going to post the information I have right here for all to see.
For all of the information, read the GOLO Editor's Blog. Angela Connor explains all of the details in her blog.
Here's the basics:
- All stories and blogs will be open for comments, but the comments must be approved by a staff of moderators before it appears on the page.
- Comments will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m, Monday through Friday.
- You will also be allowed to vote on stories.
Many of your e-mails have expressed a lot of concern about the time frames and the ability to carry on discussions with other commenters (and myself) as we have done so many times over the past year. The biggest issue is the fact that the comments will be shut off over the weekends and after 7 p.m. Most high school students are online after 7 p.m., and games don't occur until 7 p.m. or later. I have brought these concerns to our editorial staff at WRAL.com, and we are working to come up with a solution.
If you have any questions or comments please let us know. I'd encourage you to direct your questions about the changes to Angela by leaving a comment on her blog. She has been reading and responding to the comments over the past few days and has answered several questions already.
Stay tuned.
