NCPreps.com Releases 4A Preseason Poll

NCPreps.com has put out a preseason football poll for 5 years now, and every year fans vote on the teams. There are a lot of things in the poll that I don't agree with, but you can determine for yourself which teams belong and which teams don't.

Top 20:
1. Independence
2. Rose
3. Butler
4. Richmond
5. Garner
6. Hoggard
7. AC Reynolds
8. Providence
9. West Charlotte
10. Crest
11. Davie
12. New Bern
13. Grimsley
14. Scotland
15. Britt
16. 71st
17. Mt. Tabor
18. South View
19. Riverside
20. Vance/Hillside (Tie)

Poll Information/Statistics:

  • 80 Voters, 28 from East, 37 from West, 15 Unknown
  • Independence received 76 of 80 No. 1 votes
  • 38 different teams received votes
  • Southwestern, Midsoutheastern and Pac-6 all had 4 teams receiving votes

Comments By Voters:

  • "I feel the top four are a no-brainer! 5-10* are kind of tough to pick. I think the two sleepers are Jack Britt and Scotland both were young teams and are a little older now. They both could pull off some shockers this year."
  • "Bottom 5 are a toss up. Davie County, Scotland, and Myers Park could break out."
  • "Independence should be number 1, I put Butler 2nd because 5 of the states top 25 is going to be on the team. Richmond is where they should be because of last year. (#5)"
  • "Don't sleep on Middle Creek, or Southern Durham, or Knightdale, but especially Middle Creek. Word is they might have the strongest senior class in some time!"
  • "South View will bounce back. I think they should definately be on the poll"

will the NCHSAA change their TV stance? the top 12 teams would bring ratings similar to the NHL/IRL/LPGA.

Wish there could have been just one more game last year (and the year before) as Independence and Rose were both undefeated. Would be great to see those two on the field together.
