March Madness: High School Basket-brawl

Can't get enough March Madness? Let me take you up to Madison Square Garden where a brawl broke out at a high school basketball game.

Lincoln was playing Girls and Boys, but just as we have seen in the NBA a few times, the game isn't what made headlines. After a hard foul was called, players got into a verbal argument before officials separated the men, but the fans weren't as civilized.

Several people began fighting in the stands after a female struck a male, and the male struck back. Police officers swarmed the area, and tried to control the situation. They failed, however. The brawl spilled over into Times Square and eventually into the Subway. Back-up police officers had to be called in - some on horseback, some on motorcycle, and some in full riot gear.

Reports from New York indicate that several shots were fired during the fight as well.

So, we get the yankee version of March Madness.

When's the last time we saw a brawl at a high school basketball game in North Carolina? I can't recall one. Maybe it's because we're more civilized in the south, or maybe it's because we have more patience. Who knows? In any case, events like this one are bad for high school basketball across the country, not just in the Northeast.

Let's just hope this version of March Madness doesn't make it's way down I-95. Geez, where were the Knicks & Carmelo when you need them?
