NC State's opening-round win in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament certainly qualifies as impressive. The Pack ran Robert Morris out of the gym, winning by 32 points in a game that really wasn't even that close.
Since Coach Kay Yow's return from cancer treatment, the Wolfpack women have won 11 of 13 games -- beating two number one seeds (Duke and Carolina) in the process. Theirs has been an impressive and inspirational run.
Ther win over Robert Morris also ends a run the Pack would likely prefer to forget. Before this game, no player on the NC State team had ever won an NCAA Tournament game. Not one...
This marks their first opening round win in 6 years. The last time the Pack won a game in the NCAA Tournament was the 2000-2001 season. State made the Sweet Sixteen that year, but this team could go even farther.
