My Final AP Football Poll

After 32 bowl games the college football season is over so break out the tissues and let's see the final AP poll of the season. First of all, Florida just dominated Ohio State with a defense that smothered Heisman winner, Troy Smith.
I'm so happy for Gator QB Chris Leak. He broke through the boos from his own fans for a crowning moment. It's always tough to watch high school players from North Carolina leave the state but in Leak's case, you can't fault him. He's now a national champion. Of course Florida gets my top vote.
My second place vote goes to the undefeated Broncos of Boise State. What a season and a bowl win over Oklahoma. Could Boise State compete in the Big Ten or SEC?? Probably not but I voted on what teams did, not what they could have done.  I'll bet Boise State appreciates a runner-up finish in the national poll more than the rest of the top 5 finishers.
So here goes my final vote of the year....I can't wait til next year!

No Penn State?

Do any of the sports reporters at WRAL know what happened to a football player from Bertie County named Jejuan Rankin who was playing for Oklahoma last year? He does not appear on this year's roster. He is a very bright young man who seemed headed for stardom on the collegiate and pro level.
