ATLANTA, GA — Beyonce announced the four winners of her Formation Scholars Award for the 2017-2018 academic year, and one of the students is a junior at Spelman College.

Bria Paige, an English major, holds various leadership positions, including Spelman Student Government Association, Secretary of Academic Affairs and co-President of the English Club.

"'Lemonade' inspired my Mellon research proposal, ultimately fueling my desire to pursue doctoral studies centered on Black feminist thought and contribute to the evolvement of diverse scholarship within academia," said Paige.

The three other winners include:

Sadiya Ramos, Berklee College of Music

Avery Youngblood, Parsons School of Design

Maya Rogers, Howard University

Paige and the other three recipients will receive a $25,000 scholarship funded by Parkwood Entertainment.

Beyonce announced the establishment of the merit scholarship program in April. Applicants were required to submit a short essay stating how LEMONADE (Beyonce's sixth studio album) inspired their educational goals.
