A mom and daughter team has opened up a fun spot for kids to get pampered.

Alexcia Baskerville, the daughter, and Tammy Kornegay, the mom, co-own The Pink Carpet in Angier. Designed for girls ages 1 and up, the spa offers a place where little ones can get pampered and "start self-esteem building at an early age," Baskerville tells me. It's all just for fun.
"We provide citrus hand soaks and a range of foot soaks from very berry to tootie fruity as well as polish services," Baskerville tells me. "We do birthday parties for as many girls as the booking parent would like."
I checked in with the business owners by email to learn a little bit more about what you can find at The Pink Carpet. Here's our email conversation!
Go Ask Mom: Tell us about yourselves!
Tammy Kornegay: I am a resident of Fuquay Varina. I am a retired military spouse, a mother of two, and MiMi of two. Before opening The Pink Carpet, I was a stay at home mom.
Alexcia Baskerville: I am also a resident of Fuquay-Varina. I am a mother to a very energetic three-year-old and a brand new four-month-old. Before opening The Pink Carpet, I was a certified phlebotomist.
GAM: What inspired you to start The Pink Carpet?
AB: We've always known that we wanted to be business owners and this business venture allows us to inspire and empower young girls through pampering.

GAM: What kind of services do you offer?
AB: We offer birthday packages and confidence camps as well as walk-in pampering, which include citrus hand soaks, very berry foot soaks and honey-oat facials.

Each month, we have girls night in where girls ages 4 and up can spend two hours at our spa getting pampered, having pizza and doing crafts for only $20.

GAM: Why do you think it's important for girls to pamper themselves - even very little ones?
AB: Here at The Pink Carpet, we believe that pampering yourself helps build self confidence which is very important for girls of all ages.

GAM: What's the best reaction you've seen from a girl or mom after a service or party?
AB: One reaction that we'll never forget was having a very pleased mom tell us how relieved she was after allowing The Pink Carpet to host her daughter's 11th birthday party where we provided all party decor, entertainment, pizza and set up and clean up.

GAM: How do you hope the business will grow over time? Are you having fun?
AB: Our goal is to expand over several different cities and eventually different states. We are having so much fun! Making little girls feel like little princesses is one of the most rewarding jobs.
The Pink Carpet's Facebook page has more information. It's at 274C W. Depot St., Angier.
Go Ask Mom features local moms every Monday.
