SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — Southern Pines residents are being told to cut back on water use or face fines.
Town Manager Reagan Parsons announced Friday that mandatory water restrictions are in place until further notice.

The recent lack of rainfall has caused Downing Creek, the town's water source, to drop below an adequate level, Parsons said.

Until the restrictions are lifted, residents are not allowed to wash vehicles, water the lawn or hose down driveways. Read the full list of rules and fines.
