Southern Pines man sought in fatal shooting

Police were searching Friday for a man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a Southern Pines man late Thursday.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — Police were searching Friday for a man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a Southern Pines man late Thursday.

Southern Pines officers responded to a reported shooting at the Brookside Park Apartments complex, in the 100 block of Coats Street, at about 11 p.m. and found a crowd gathered around a body in a grassy area near the parking lot.

The dead man was identified as 33-year-old Tyrone Terry Allmond.

Investigators named Carlouse Latour "Carlos" Allbrooks, 31, of Southern Pines, as a suspect in the homicide, and they obtained a warrant for his arrest on a charge of first-degree murder.

Allbrooks is described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 170 pounds. He has a medium build, medium complexion, black hair and brown eyes.

No other details of the case were released.
