Southern Pines man accused of helping NJ runaway

A Southern Pines man faces accusations that he helped a New Jersey juvenile run away.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — A Southern Pines man faces accusations that he helped a New Jersey juvenile run away.

Southern Pines police said that Nicholas Reynaldo Garcia, 21, communicated with the juvenile through social media and then drove to New Jersey and brought the child to North Carolina. The juvenile, whose age wasn't released, was reported missing on April 16.

Garcia was charged with contributing to the deliquency of a minor. He was placed in the Moore County jail under a $5,000 unsecured bond and scheduled to appear in court June 13.
