South Carolina woman reported missing in Wayne County found safe

A missing Darlington, S.C., woman who was reported missing by her 15-year-old son Sunday morning was found safe Monday afternoon.

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — A missing Darlington, S.C., woman who was reported missing by her 15-year-old son Sunday morning was found safe Monday afternoon.

Authorities said Angel Denise Phillips and her son were involved in a minor car crash on N.C. Highway 55 in Mount Olive early Saturday.

Officials said the mother and son found shelter Saturday night after the wreck. The following morning, Phillips sent her son to find water, but Phillips was gone when he returned.

Phillips and her son were seen together around 11 a.m. on Saturday.

According to authorities, Phillips was found safe in the woods near Highway 55.
