— A software issue caused some Time Warner Cable customers to temporarily lose several channels, including WRAL, on Thursday night.

For at least two hours, thousands of customers throughout Raleigh, Garner, Wake Forest and Johnston County were affected, TWC spokeswoman Melissa Buscher said.

Everyone should go to www.timewarnercable.com/carolinas and click on Contact Us. You can easily submit a complaint there without having to hold 30 minutes to get someone on the phone!

I ditched TWC for DIRECTV 2 years ago and have never regretted it for one minute. Yes, sometimes you lose the satellite briefly if there is a torrential downpour, but that happens to me maybe twice a year for 5 minutes. I had way, way, WAY more service interruptions with TWC, and TWC also has the added bonus of terrible customer service.

I was long time(years)TWC subscriber; I got fed up with the poor picture quality they were never able to fix. If you spend $1200 on an HDTV the picture quality should be great; it wasn't and I was paying them $245 bucks a month for everything. I went to DirecTV; the picture quality was fixed immediately and my bill is cheaper; however I still have roadrunner and phone service with TWC; and my bill is still cheaper than when I was with TWC alone. I have lost satelite signal during very heavy rain but it's not bad enough to go back to TWC. Hope this helps if you are interested in DirecTV.

I just got Direct TV installed last week because of the typical lousy TWC reliability and quality, and for the horrible new menu TWC put in service a few months ago. When I turned in my old equipment at the TWC store in the mall, the TWC guy said in a low voice that a bunch of people were leaving TWC just because of the menu issue alone. So far, Direct has been 100% perfect. No more TWC for me!!!

why on earth would you pay for cable? most shows are free online anyway. and if you're one of those suckers who 'bundles' everything, then you get what you pay for when everything goes out at once.

marc, just wait until you have a lot of bandwidth intrusive things to run...you won't be saying that anymore :)

To each his own, I suppose.

hmmm.. a good friend of mine has Uverse and absolutly loves it. He says it's 10 times better than TWC and notibly cheaper. If they ever get to my neighborhood... bye bye TWC!

Those of you that hate TWC and "can't wait for Uverse" you're in a very rude awakening...U -Verse is terrible. We tested it at our workplace and it's absolutely terrible.
