Some students to retake state test after hardware glitch

Officials said a hardware issue invalidated final exam test scores. It was unknown Monday how many students were affected across the state, said Joanne Honeycutt, director of career and technical education for the state Department of Public Instruction. Some scores did go through and school districts have other options to submit grades, she said.

Students will not be penalized for the glitch, but many will have to retake the tests, Honeycutt said.

Wake County students will not be required to retake the exams, according to the district’s official Twitter account.

The state has used the same testing system for three years. There were no issues when the system was used last spring, Honeycutt said.
