The N.C. Zoo in Asheboro will extend free admission to several attractions that would usually cost visitors $11 on Sunday as part of Visitor Appreciation Day.
Free attractions on Visitor Appreciation Day are the movie Rio the 4-D Experience; the zoo’s 36 foot Endangered Species Carousel; and the exhibit “Bugs: An Epic Adventure” which has 13 animatronic bugs nearly 20 feet high and live invertebrates. The zoo marks its 40th birthday this year.

The zoo, which is about 90 minutes from the Triangle, is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for kids ages 2 to 12. Seniors ages 62 and up are $10.

If you go, be sure to visit the new Kid Zone, which is always free.
