Some call marking inside church 'miracle'

Posted August 11, 2010

— A stone has been drawing curious visitors to Spring Lake United Methodist Church for several days.

Some people say a marking on it appears to be the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene standing at the foot of the Jesus' cross. Others see it as a stain or blemish in the stone.

Church secretary Nancy Wrenn said she had been praying that her church would experience a revival.

"This was, to me, I feel like, an answer to prayer. I think (God) sent us a miracle," Wrenn said Wednesday.

Wrenn notified other churches for witnesses to confirm that something is on the stone. The church, which is on Bragg Boulevard, has opened its doors for anybody to go and look.

It's not religion, it's relationship with God. Too many generalize when this is an individual relationship. Will pray for you as well, even if you don't believe. I agree that this looks like a stain, but if it brings someone to believe, then I guess that's okay.

There was a southpark that dealt with this subject of stigmatta and had the pope. It is pretty easy to google it.

Isn't one of the 10 Commandments to not have any graven images that you worship instead of God? Pretty sure that's in there somewhere...

I see Cousin Itt with Mickey Mouse gloves held high.

I am a born-again Christian who cringes when people see signs and miracles in food and on statues and walls. The Lord's miracles are around us every day - look at the flowers blooming, the blue sky, human life. Just three examples where the Glory should be given to God, but few recognize those things yet get excited over a stain on a wall.
