Finally! Spring has sprung!  At last, we can put away the board games and break out the bikes!  I don’t know about the rest of you, but my little family has been going stir crazy, anxious to get back outside to do the things we love most.

That’s not to say we’ve hibernated all winter (though sometimes I wish I could!). We definitely enjoyed the opportunity to do some sledding and build a pretty amazing igloo this year. We do still find outdoor things to do year round, but it just seems so much more fun when we don’t have to bundle up first.  And I for one just can’t bring myself to go camping in the cold!

So now we are just beginning the time of year I like to call “everything is better outside” season. Who wants to lounge around on the couch when there are hammocks in the yard?  We don’t need a dining room table for a while, because there’s great furniture on the deck where we prefer to eat dinner.  We have already been to outdoor concerts, and there are movies to come soon too.

We’ve been counting down the days (and up the temperature) until the next time we can go camping, definitely one of our favorite ways to spend a weekend. We are also really looking forward to doing the kind of hiking where we can splash in a creek or waterfall during the trip.  And, of course, being the competitors we are, we have already been training for our next crazy race.

As for those bikes – well that is a goal we are revisiting. It was a little over a year ago that I first took the training wheels off my son’s bike.  Shortly thereafter he broke his leg (not on his bike, thankfully!), and was unable to ride for a while.  In the meantime, he grew exponentially, as little boys tend to do, and we had to wait for Santa to bring a new bike.  So now we are back to learning to ride again.  He’s doing great so far, and the mailbox is holding up great as a stopping post …

Sorry Netflix, we won’t be needing your entertainment right now. I think even the Legos might get a little lonely for a while now that the sun is shining again - though I’m sure the first time it rains, I’ll be stepping on those again!

So what am I missing? What are your favorite springtime activities that I haven’t already listed?  We are always looking for ideas!
