FORT BRAGG, N.C. — At least one Fort Bragg soldier will be tried in the death of a paratrooper found dead on post last summer.

Sgt. Justin A. Boyle of Rocky Point, N.Y. faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, conspiracy to commit assault consummated by battery and communicating a threat.

Pfc. Luke Brown, 27, of Fredericksburg, Va., was found dead in a car in a parking lot off Bastogne Drive on post on July 20.

Sgt. Mitchell Lafortune testified in a March hearing that several soldiers punched, choked and restrained Brown in an effort to calm him after he got into a fight at a bar.

Army officials haven't yet decided whether to proceed with charges against six other soldiers in the case: Sgt. Christopher Mignocchi, 22, of Hollywood, Fla.; Sgt. Kyle G. Saltz, 25, of Richland, Wash.; Spc. Joseph Misuraca of Harper Woods, Mich.; Pfc. Andrey Udalov, 21, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Spc. Charles B. DeLong of Dade City, Fla.; and Sgt. Ryan Sullivan, 23, of Mount Laurel, N.J.
