Soldier pleads guilty in paratrooper's death

The last of seven Fort Bragg soldiers charged in the July 2008 death of a a paratrooper pleaded guilty on Monday, authorities said.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — The last of seven Fort Bragg soldiers charged in the July 2008 death of a a paratrooper pleaded guilty on Monday, authorities said.

Sgt. Ryan Sullivan, 24, of Mount Laurel, N.J., pleaded guilty to assault and battery. A military court reduced his rank and sentenced him to 30 days of hard labor.

Pfc. Luke Brown, 27, of Fredericksburg, Va., was found dead in a car in a parking lot off Bastogne Drive on post on July 20, 2008. A witness said that several soldiers punched, choked and restrained Brown in an effort to calm him after he got into a fight at a bar.

Sgt. Christopher Mignocchi, 23, of Hollywood, Fla.; Sgt. Kyle G. Saltz, 26, of Richland, Wash.; Pfc. Andrey Udalov, 22, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Spc. Charles B. DeLong of Dade City, Fla.; Spc. Joseph Misuraca of Harper Woods, Mich.; and Sgt. Justin A. Boyle of Rocky Point, N.Y., previously pleaded guilty in the case.
