FORT BRAGG, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier died Saturday from an apparent accidental gunshot wound, officials said Tuesday.

Spc. Travis D. Ezell, a small arms and artillery repair specialist assigned to Company C, Support Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne), died at a residence in Fayetteville, officials said.

The Fayetteville Police Department is investigating the shooting, and no other details have been released.

Ezell joined the Army in 2005 and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division in January 2006. He deployed to Afghanistan from January 2007 to last April.

He was assigned to the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg this month.
