— A Fort Bragg soldier is being discharged after he admitted to performing in a video posted on a military-themed gay pornography Web site, authorities said.

The unidentified soldier was assigned to the 1st Battalion of the 321st Field Artillery Regiment.

Seven 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers were discharged last year after they appeared on the same Web site.

Officials said they learned last month that a soldier was in a video posted on the site. An investigation determined no other soldiers at Fort Bragg were involved in the latest incident, officials said.

I don't understand why that would have anything to do with him being a soldier, though. Just because he did it doesn't mean he can't be a good soldier. And it's not like a soldier out of thousands is in the public eye and would hurt the military's image.

It's not about whether or not he can be gay and be a good soldier. It is about the fact that he put it on a web site. Homosexuality in the military is a very strained arguement at best, but how is this soldier supposed to get soldiers who are homophobic to follow him in combat if they know he was on a gay web site. Some soldiers would be able to look past this but the majority would not, even if it was not about gay/straight issue, soldiers would know that this soldier broke a regulation so his credibility with the rest of his soldiers would be shot.

"For those asking how it hurts the military to have gay's I'll tell you. First of all, there are a lot of homophobic people in the military that would most likely look for any reason to take physical action against a homosexual. Second, these same homophobic soldiers would be to concerned as to whether or not the gay soldier in the foxhole was attracted to them or not. I served 4 years in the military and am proud of my service. I'm not gay nor am I homophobic but The prior reasons I know exist. I do not agree with homosexual acts therfore I will not participate in them but there are several who are scared by gay people."

You know what's interesting? These are the same arguments that were used when Truman was talking about integrating the military. There are racists in there and it'll just destroy morale. How can we be sure we can depend on them, since they're stupid like God made them?

It was BS then and it's BS now. This is simple resistance to change, nothing more.

This is sad. I worked at a Hotel in Hampton Roads and I had both gay employees and military employees. The guys that were in the Navy were getting paid peanuts, working a second job with me, and getting their pictures taken by another one of the employees, who just happened to be gay. The guys in the Navy were very nice looking and I can see where the gay guys solicited them for the pictures, but if you were getting paid peanuts and the offer was thrown out there, (and in your 20s) it might be a little easier to accept. I have always said the government does not pay soldiers enough, what does a life cost nowadays anywho?

Come on now, giving up Military secrets is a little different than performing in a gay porno! So because this soldier did this means he would betray his country at the drop of a hat? Be for real...

If these soldiers are so easily swayed by easy money that they are willing to do something as "simple" as gay porn, then I can only imagine how easily they could be swayed to give up military secrets.

It doesn't matter if it is gay porn or anything else to make easy and fast money. If a soldier is willing to do that, then I can imagine the same soldier would be willing to betray our country for a dollar. Let's hope that they were never approached by some terrorist who was willing to pay them for information.

The army has a recruiting shortage and what do they do? They kick out soldiers for having gay tendancies. They should of sent this guy to Iraq as punishment. It is not fair that so many are being sent to Iraq and this guy avoids his time by posting on a gay porn site, its all ridiculous to me.

A question, just WHO from the military was watching the porn site to be able to identify the soldier to start off with? ( PAUSE FOR THOUGHT) Next, what was so bad with the soldier being on the site, or being gay for that matter? Would you rather he be like some of the straight soldiers who raped that girl, then shot her in the head, shot her family and burned the house down??? THAT'S nice. Other countries have gays in the military and have had so for years with NO problems. Grow up.

"Another argument why gays don't belong in the army . . . this is a distraction to the purpose of why soldiers are serving this country, and WHY they are in the service to begin with."

This has NOTHING to do with being gay. This has everything to do with making pornographic videos. Straight or gay, it's the same thing. Or are you saying that all gay people make pornos and that's why they shouldn't be in the military? I bet you also think that all gay people are pedophiles as well.
