Military authorities detained an 82nd Airborne Division soldier after a gunshot was fired in housing at Pope Air Force Base late Thursday evening.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Military authorities detained an 82nd Airborne Division soldier after a gunshot was fired in housing at Pope Air Force Base late Thursday evening.

Pope AFB authorities said a single shot was fired around 8:45 p.m. in what they described as a "domestic incident." No one was injured.

The shooter, whose identity hasn't been released, left the scene but was detained Fort Bragg authorities.

The incident remains under investigation by military and civilian authorities.

Pope AFB was placed under lockdown after the shooting, and residents were asked to stay inside their homes as a precaution.
