SoCon suggests it may move hoops tourneys from Asheville over HB2

Posted September 14

— Southern Conference commissioner John Iamarino has hinted that the men's and women's basketball tournaments in the collegiate sports league could be moved from Asheville.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports that Iamarino's comment on Tuesday came one day after the NCAA pulled seven championship events out of North Carolina because of a law requiring transgender people to use bathrooms matching the sex on their birth certificate.

Iamarino said Tuesday that upcoming meetings of athletic administrators in October and of presidents and chancellors in November could result in the tournament being moved. He says the groups will "have a full discussion" on the issue.

Currently, the 2017 SoCon tournament is scheduled for March 2-6 at the U.S. Cellular Center.

that's why the bill should be split. the Bathroom part separate from the other grap. The Bathroom part is the only part that interest me.

Dan, read the entire HB2 bill please. The unenforceable bathroom part is what you call a 'red herring'. Are you familiar with that term? The rest of the bill is what we should be talking about.

Just wondering.....does the SoCon let male basketball players dress and shower with female cheerleaders? If not.....like all these other sports things.....you are talking out of both sides of your mouth. I think that is being a hypocrite. The bottom line is that if your chromosomes are XY....that life form is a male, if it is XX....that life form is female. No surgery or identity crisis can change that. And if the "leaders" of these organizations are so sure this is right....how about let the male players dress and shower with their teenage daughter. How would that work out for them?

Can't believe people waste their time and money going to those stupid games anyway. Let them have them somewhere else if they want. It's just not that important.

Just keep men out of women's bathrooms and women out of the men's bathrooms and all will be well, how difficult is that to understand. People try to make simple things complex for no good reason.
