Sneak peek offered of new film focused on teacher performance

Posted May 28, 2014

Teacher performance is the focus of their film, Teacher of the Year.

I featured local filmmakers and dads Rob Phillips and Jason Korreck, who are behind a feature length documentary called Teacher of the Year, in January.

The film follows one teacher - Angie Scioli, a long-time social studies teacher at Leesville Road High School - over the course of a year. As the school year comes to a close, Phillips and Korreck will be wrapping up filming and begin the editing process.

The filmmakers are raising money for the editing and production of the film. They, along with Scioli, will be at a Q&A at 8 p.m., Friday, at Gather in downtown Cary to talk more about the project and the teaching profession and offer a peek of the film. Korreck is a former teacher. Phillips also is a teacher at Leesville Road High School.

Gather, at 11 W. Chatham St., will be donating some proceeds of their coffee and tea purchases to the film. Space is limited for Friday evening's event. To reserve a spot, email Joni Klem at joni@daveandjoni.com.
