CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — In the past, Snap Pea Underground pop up dinners have been a one night only event. For Chef Jacob Boehm’s newest project, Yam Yai, he has expanded the event to two weekends.

Yam Yai is a celebration of Boehm’s experience and obsession with Thai street food. He has made multiple visits to Thailand and has worked in kitchens around the country, including the renowned Pok Pok in Portland.

There are some similarities to other Snap Pea Underground events. The menu is still a secret, but you can bet it will be loaded with North Carolina pasture-raised meat and vegetables. The other similarity is that you can bring your own beverage to the meal. If you forget to bring something or want a to complete the Thai experience, bring cash for Singha, a Thai beer.

The dinners takes place April 28 to May 1 and May 5 to May 8 in Chapel Hill’s brand Midway Community Kitchen.

The six-course dinner is priced at $45 on Thursdays and Sundays, with the Chef’s Counter (which includes more courses) at $75. On Fridays and Saturdays, the cost is $55, with the Chef Counter going for $85.

Tickets can be purchased on Snap Pea Underground's website.
