Smithfield school bus crash sends seven students to hospital

— A school bus accident Thursday afternoon in Johnston County sent seven students and two other people to the hospital.

The crash happened about 4 p.m. at U.S. Highway 301 and Galilee Road in Four Oaks.

School officials said the students were from Smithfield Middle School. Information on the extent of their injuries was not immediately released, but authorities said the injuries were non-life threatening.

The other two people transported to the hospital were drivers involved in the wreck.
