Smithfield Foods to expand in Kinston
Smithfield Foods Inc. plans to expand its pork-processing plant in Kinston, investing at least $16 million in the project, officials said Thursday.
Posted — UpdatedKINSTON, N.C. — Smithfield Foods Inc. plans to expand its pork-processing plant in Kinston, investing at least $16 million in the project, officials said Thursday.
The move marks the company's third expansion since it opened in Kinston in 1978.
The other two expansions came in 2006 and 2011. In the latter of those, Smithfield committed to creating at least 330 jobs within five years.
