Smithfield councilman charged in domestic dispute
A Smithfield Town Council member and his wife were charged Sunday following a domestic dispute at their house, police said Monday.
Posted — UpdatedSMITHFIELD, N.C. — A Smithfield Town Council member and his wife were charged Sunday following a domestic dispute at their house, police said Monday.
Police received a 911 call about the dispute at 12 Bradford St. about 5:40 a.m. and found that Charles A. Williams,. 42, and Portia E. Williams, 50, had minor injuries.
Charles Williams was charged with domestic assault on a female. Portia Williams was charged with domestic simple assault.
Charles Williams is also an assistant fire marshal with the Raleigh Fire Department.
