Two people were on board the plane when it skidded off the runway. The plane's pilot, Mark Craig, said he and his passenger were OK after the crash.
Craig said he believed the plane got caught in the downwash from a helicopter as he was landing at the airport.
Airport officials said the incident did cause a grass fire, but the fire was quickly put out.
Moore County Airport was expected to remain closed until Thursday because of the incident.
