Manteo, N.C. — A pilot has gone missing after his twin-engine plane crashed in the Croatan Sound near Manteo early Sunday afternoon, according the Coast Guard.
The plane crashed while approaching the Dare County regional airport on Roanoke Island around 11:45 a.m., authorities told WITN News.
Dare County emergency responders rescued a passenger, who they said appeared to be in fairly good shape. She was taken to the Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head. Her condition and identity have not been released.
