Slightly cooler temps on tap for second half of work week; storms possible
A cold front slipped south of the Triangle early Wednesday, setting up a slightly cooler second half of the work week, WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.
Posted — Updated"It will be a bit cooler today, but it's not all of a sudden going to be refreshing with low humidity," she said. "It will still be quite sticky out, and our highs will reach the upper 80s."
Pop-up showers and thunderstorms could again get the area wet at any point Wednesday as low clouds linger. Gardner said areas to the south and west of the Triangle have the best chance to get wet.
"Our chances for showers climb to about 50 percent during the afternoon, but don't be surprised if you see a morning shower," she said. "Not everyone will get wet, but as is normally the case in the summer, areas that do see thunderstorms could see strong winds and heavy downpours."
A similar pattern will remain in place Thursday and Friday, with highs in the upper 80s and a chance for afternoon showers and storms.
Highs will return to the low 90s over the weekend.
