RALEIGH, N.C. — A six-year-old Raleigh girl was kidnapped from, then returned to, her home Wednesday morning.

Investigators responded to the 4700 block of Dansey Drive at about 3:45 a.m. after a man entered an apartment and took the sleeping child to a nearby outdoor location, police said.

“A short time later, after engaging in actions suggestive of further illegal intent, the suspect returned the girl to her residence,” police said in a statement.

Authorities did not elaborate on what those actions were.

The girl woke her mother, who then notified police.

The child was not injured, police said.

Investigators were not able to provide a detailed description of the man.
