— A Goldsboro woman whose body was found in a field early last month died from asphyxiation, according to an autopsy report released by the Chief Medical Examiner's Office on Wednesday.

Jean Metzger Hubbard, 66, was choked and then suffocated after plastic bags were secured around her head, according to the report.

Hubbard's brother, Gary Metzger, 54, and his wife, Ann Metzger, 34, both of 146 Country View Drive in Goldsboro, are charged in her murder.

Police found Hubbard's body in a field on the couple's property on Aug. 4. After the body was found, police said the Metzgers ran to a wooded area south of U.S. Highway 70 East, where they were arrested, police said.

Hubbard was reported missing in late July.
