FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Photojournalists have made headlines in recent weeks, not for their work behind the lens, but because they've become victims in front of cameras.

On Thursday, family, friends and co-workers of Chris Hondros gathered to remember him. The Fayetteville native was killed in 2011 while working for Getty Images, covering the civil war in Libya.

Hondros graduated from Terry Sanford High School and also worked for The Fayetteville Observer. His work was on display Thursday, beginning at 6 p.m., in the David McCune International Art Gallery at Methodist University.
