Heading to the U.S. Open? Bring an umbrella
Those expecting bright, clear skies for this week's U.S. Open Championship are in for a wet awakening.

“I’m sure we’re going to be dodging showers and storms throughout the tournament,” WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said.
Thunderstorms are possible throughout the week, with the highest probability on Thursday – the first round of the U.S. Open.
The rain will start overnight Sunday as light showers move through the Triangle.
Temperatures will range between the upper 80s and low 90s throughout the week. With the heat comes increased air moisture, meaning higher chances of rain, Wilmoth said.
The Triangle will have a 20-30 percent chance of rain Monday and Tuesday and a 40 percent chance on Wednesday. Monday’s anticipated high is 88.
But rain is expected across the region – including Pinehurst – on Thursday.
"We never quite get rid of the rain chances throughout the seven-day forecast," WRAL meteorologist Nate Johnson said. "We’re heading into that time of year where we see that popcorn thunderstorm and shower chance just hanging around in the afternoons."
