Raleigh police made 28 DWI arrests at two checkpoints this weekend.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police made 28 DWI arrests at two checkpoints this weekend.

Officers from Raleigh were joined by numerous other law enforcement agencies around the Triangle, and the joint force operated checking stations from 12:30 to 3 a.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of Capital Boulevard and 12:30 to 3 a.m. Sunday in the 5000 block of Six Forks Road.

The arrests equate to about one DWI every 11 minutes.

Aside from the DWI arrests, drivers were cited for nine other alcohol violations, two weapons violations, nine drug charges and 36 non-alcohol traffic violations. Four pending arrest warrants were also served.
