— Six people were displaced by an apartment fire in north Raleigh Monday evening, Wake County fire officials said.

One unit was destroyed at 4928 Coolridge Court and the unit below it sustained smoke and water damage.

No one was injured.

Rinah Daniel was returning home from a Memorial Day cookout when she saw that her apartment had gone up in flames.

"All I could see was the windows busted out of our apartment," she said. "We don't smoke and we haven't cooked anything today."

Daniel, a single mother of four, lived with her children and a roommate. She said they've lost everything.

"We don't have anything. That is all we have and we worked hard for what we have," Daniel said.

Fire crews were still on the scene Monday night investigating what sparked the blaze.

"It is going to be a lengthy investigation," said fire division chief Brad Harvey.

I dont know how to contact you other than this way, but if your sister needs it, I have a double bed (frame/head and foot boards) and a dresser she can have. Actually, I have quite a bit of stuff she can have that is all in good condition. I dont believe in selling things I dont need anymore. Id rather donate them to someone in need.............

please email me @ mndaniel83@yahoo.com, thanks to everyone for your prayers!

Hey, who said anything about her NOT having renter's insurance? Why are people jumping to conclusions? Even with insurance, personal items, such as photos, aren't replaceable. Don't assume anything.

RE: Rinah is my sister! Her my neices and nephew lost their material possessions, some which can not be replaced! Please keep them in your prayers! Yes renters insurance covers them but it does not cover the emotional damage to the kids!

RE: Hope someone is looking for an arsonist because it seems like there's apartment fire every few days now in N. RAL.

It would be interesting to know if these apartments are all owned by the same parent company. Torch the place, rebuild it and charge higher rent.

rdmcswai- I do have compassion. I am an insurance agent. I see this story almost weekly in the news. Folks should prioritize...period. When you look at it, she put her family at risk by NOT having Renters Insurance. Insurance is about risk. Its no secret that fires happen. Its will you be prepared for it? Im sure the kids will be scarred mentally from the fact of the fire but....lets think...your kids have nothing because you saved $7 a month or you have a check in hand to go replace your lost property? This is sad due to the loss but when your fail to prepare, you prepare to fail. Can you guess how many people complain about a few dollars they pay for Renters Insurance AFTER a major loss?? ZERO! Wondering if this was an uninsured driver who hit and injured someone, would you be as sympathetic?

nclife - "According to the news last night, mom stated she had been having problems with the electrical outlets. She had informed the apt manager several times, but nothing had been done."

Happens so many times. I hope she has some kind of proof she informed them. I always wrote repairs needed in red pen in the "Memo" section (lowest left) on my rent check, so they couldn't claim they didn't know just in case something like that happened.

Then if something happened that they didn't fix, all I had to do was get a copy of the cashed check back from the bank.

    Awww, praying for them all.

Can't believe some are whining about renters' insurance here.

Guess one has to lose something themselves before they figure out the whole ramifications of a thing.

While I appreciate everyone's standpoint that some people cannot afford it (especially single mothers) and though I've already posted my comment as an insurance agent and how cheap it is to have insurance...my primary irritation are those who do experience loss and then get mad and blame someone else when they themselves should have been the responsible one to make sure their things are covered and "prioritize bills" as mssmith said.

some are so fast to say ppl should have this and ppl should have that, and the sad thing is most of the ppl saying this mess dont have it themselves or couldnt afford it either.. Thank GOD no one was injured...
