WRAL WeatherCenter Blog : If the thermometers we have around the house, inside and outside, show significant above temps that the "official" thermometer at the airport does, witch really reflects what humans feel? i.e., I'm sitting under a shade tree with my new thermometer next to me, it reads 112F. Why should I feel cooler because the NWS broadcast a temp of 102f?
WRAL WeatherCenter Blog : What is the all-time RDU record for the warmest low temperature (highest min as you call it)? I thought it was 79 or 80. Are we going to break this record tonight?
WRAL WeatherCenter Blog : During the forecast last evening, Greg Fischel expressed his skepticism with respect to the official RDU temperature readings (esp. the 100+ high temps) in the summer of 99. I recall he made a similar comment during 1999. He commented that the problem was not with the equipment, but due to the location of the equipment. Could you please elaborate on this?
WRAL WeatherCenter Blog : I have noticed in some of the daily summaries for Hurricane tracking that there is a lot of saharan dust coming off of Africa. What causes this? Is there not a lot of rain with the storms coming off Africa into the Atlantic?
