Sister says missing Wake man found safe

A Silver Alert for Kyle Matthew Henn, who survived a plane crash after his brother's death in a terrorist attack in Africa a year ago, was canceled about two hours after it was issued Thursday morning.

Henn's sister said that Henn had been found and returned home. He had last been seen at his parents' home at 1009 Old Mill Creek Court in northern Wake County.

"We are thankful to have Kyle home safe and appreciate the community's help and response," Brynne Henn said in a statement.

Wake County investigators had said they thought he might be driving to the Outer Banks. The Silver Alert system quickly notifies the public about missing, endangered adults who suffer from a cognitive impairment.

Henn told his family that he tried to pull out the pilot, Thomas F. Pitts, 65, who had volunteered to fly Henn from Delaware to be with his family. Pitts was killed in the plane crash, and co-pilot James Donahue was critically injured.
