Sip, sparkle, pop! 5 spots to imbibe on Sonoma bubbly tour
Posted September 5
SONOMA, Calif. — You don't have to visit France's Champagne region to get a bubbly fix. Just head to Sonoma County, California, north of San Francisco.
Some wineries are quite old, like Buena Vista Winery, founded in 1857. Korbel, founded in 1882, makes 960,000 cases of its flagship Korbel Brut a year.
Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards planted the classic grapes of Champagne here in the 1980s but the family has made Spanish Freixenet for centuries. Also worth a stop: J Vineyards and Iron Horse.
